Corporate Social Responsibility

The MEXA CSR Fund Ltd had remained inactive for the past 2 years (2019 & 2020) due to lack of funding.

Indeed, in the Budget Speech of 2018, it was announced that Private firms will have to remit, as from January 2019, 75% of their CSR contribution to the MRA, as announced two years ago. However, for CSR programmes which have already started and which are in accordance with the guidelines set by the National CSR Foundation, firms will be allowed, upon approval by the Foundation, to retain an additional amount of up to 25%.”

Therefore, the MEXA CSR Fund Ltd’s activities were put on hold.

Luckily in March 2021, given the good performance of our export manufacturing companies, we received CSR funding from Princes Tuna (Mauritius) Ltd, Vector International Ltd, RT Knits Ltd and Cernol Group.

A decision was therefore taken to re-launch our CSR activities.

1. Fondation cours jeanne d'arc

The MEXA CSR Fund Ltd has renewed its sponsorship to the Fondation Cours Jeanne D’Arc, which is a specialized school for children with physical and mental disabilities. They currently have a batch of 5 students under their CSR Program and the MEXA CSR Fund Ltd decided to sponsor 3 of them.

2. Centre pour l’Education et le Progrès des Enfants Handicapés (CEPEH)

CEPEH is a private school in Flacq for children with intellectual and physical disabilities. And the project submitted to the MEXA CSR Fund Ltd is about the provision of paramedical services to the disabled children and adolescents of CEPEH. Thus, the MEXA CSR Fund Ltd decided to sponsor the salaries of the Physiotherapist and Psychologist for one year.
