Mauritius Secures Landmark U.S. Cotton Supply Deal to Boost Textile Industry

The U.S.-Africa Trade Desk (USATD) has announced the successful export of 300 tons of premium-grade cotton from North Carolina to Mauritius, marking a milestone that strengthens trade relations between the United States and Africa.

The high-quality, ethically sourced cotton will be integrated into Mauritius’s world-renowned textile and apparel sector, reinforcing supply chain integrity, traceability, and competitiveness.

This landmark deal represents:

Speaking on the partnership, Mr. Soma, CEO of Firemount Textiles Ltd — the first official Mauritian partner in the initiative — emphasized that the use of U.S. cotton in denim jeans destined for American consumers will not only meet the highest quality expectations of the U.S. retail market but also expand Firemount’s global footprint.
